Backpacks are having a revival, in fact they are big news for spring and summer; they peppered the runways in London and New York earlier this year and are being seen on all the most style savvy backs. If you think about current trends such as sports lux, menswear for women and flat-shoes it's easy to see why backpacks are a natural choice. They're comfortable to wear, effortless to style and incredibly practical. The highstreet is being quick to catch on too, Topshop showed backpacks at the Topshop Unique show in February and The Cambridge Satchel Company have a very chic backpack available in three colours (I love the black one).
Choosing a Rutbag backpack was a total no brainer for me. I've admired the company and it's charitable ethos for some time; I also wanted my backpack to be just a little different, to have a kind of old school charm, to be functional yet beautiful. The Mini nails it. The leather is buttery soft, it smells divine and the tanning process has left subtle variations in colour that give the bag a heritage look. Rutbag say that their bags are not perfect... I'm afraid I'll have to disagree.
